Race to the Top Fund
The $4.35 billion Race to the Top Fund is the largest ever federal competitive investment in school reform. It will reward states for past accomplishments and create incentives for future improvements. Individual states apply. The four priority areas to drive school improvement are listed below.
Indiana's Executive RTT Summary has been released. See pages 2-3 for a list of stakeholder meetings in your community December and January. Indiana needs to demonstrate community support in order to win $250M or more for our state. Download a sample support letter to send to Indiana Department of Education.

School Improvement Grants (part of Title 1).
The Title I School Improvement Grants will provide states and districts the money they need to leverage change and turn around schools. Authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in 2002, the program did not receive funding until fiscal year 2007. The current $3.5 billion provides an unprecedented opportunity for states and districts to implement significant reforms to transform chronically low-performing schools.
