Meet Your Literacy Team
For Ashley Rice, supporting afterschool programs isn’t just about strategy — it’s about celebrating the everyday wins that make a big difference for kids.
Ashley has been with the Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) for two years, bringing more than a decade of experience in youth programs. She’s done it all: from designing and managing programs to serving on the front lines alongside staff. That hands-on perspective helps her understand what afterschool professionals need to succeed — and how to meet them where they are.
What motivates her most are the smiles she sees when staff and youth are engaged together, and the stories that come back later — an article about a student’s accomplishment, or a personal note about a goal achieved. “Those moments are proof that the work we’re doing is making an impact,” Ashley says.
Now, through the IAN Literacy Playbook, Ashley is excited to coach afterschool providers across Indiana. “As a coach, I see myself as a teammate,” Ashley explains. “The Playbook gives us the resources, and my job is to walk alongside providers as they put those plays into action — so every child has the chance to become a confident, capable reader.”
How Ashley Will Support You
