The 2015 Indiana Summit on Out of School Learning was a partnership of the Indiana Afterschool Network and Indiana Department of Education, our state’s leading conference on afterschool and summer learning.

2015’s Summit featured two days of exciting keynote speakers, networking events, exhibitors, and more than 50 innovative, engaging workshops on Out of School Learning.  I AM INDIANA Afterschool, brought together our state’s top talent to share the latest advances in our field.  The Summit also featured a special project-based learning workshop and fun-filled Evening Reception at the Indianapolis Zoo.

AND NEW for 2015– there was a Final Gathering of ALL Participants for Grand Prize Drawings & an Ice Cream Social!

  • KEYNOTE DAY 1: Don Wettrick is an Innovation Specialist at Noblesville High School, just outside Indianapolis, IN. He is the author of “Pure Genius: Building a Culture of Innovation and Taking 20% Time to the Next Level”. Wettrick has worked as a middle school and high school teacher; educational and innovation consultant; and educational speaker. Don is passionate about helping students find their educational opportunities and providing them with the digital tools they need to give them a competitive edge.

    Don has lectured across the US and Europe about collaboration, social media use, and work environments that enable innovation. He also hosts an internet radio program, InnovatED, for the BAM! Radio Network.  Most importantly Don works with educators and students to bring innovation and collaborative skills into education.

    Don lives in Indianapolis, IN with his wife, Alicia, and three children: Ava, Anna, and Grant. You can find him on Twitter @donwettrick where he tweets updates on his student’s innovation work.

    1st Prize: $2,500
    2nd Prize: $1,000

    On April 14, Day Two of the 2015 Summit for Out-of-School Learning there will be a Showcase of the Top 6 Out-of-School Time Programs from across the state that are:

    • Building relationships and impact with local schools
    • Using data to drive decisions and tell stories
    • Retaining staff with professional development

    Each showcase will last 5 minutes.  At the conclusion of the Showcase, the audience will vote on the Indiana OST Champion for 2015!
